August 16th Update

Hey Everyone!

Thank you for those who prayed for our last concert, it went really well! Your prayers got us through! God is good and He gave each one of us the strength to do the job He had planned. The kids seemed really responsive to the Gospel message, please keep them in their prayers as we have the opportunity to minster to them and that they would hold on to the gospel when we leave. Today we had a chance to spend time with the kids and have a short Bible study with them that went really well. Tonight many of them are attending the English class that Rebbecca, Pastor Ray's wife, teaches. The team will be helping her tonight. This is such a great tool for evangelism as well, one of my friends who now works for CCCPM, came to know Christ through the English class.

So things are going well, its crazy to think that we will be back in the states in less than a week. Tomorrow night we leave Tambov for Moscow on the overnight train, it is always so hard leaving this city.

Thanks again for your letters of encouragement, they are so sweet to receive.
Peace,
Shannon

August 16th Update

Dear Friends and Family! We are safe and sound in the beautiful city of Tambov again! We have our last concert outreach tonight, then we will have a two days of hanging with the kids and doing Bible studies. After that we will be back in Moscow for a day at the dorm then back home! It's amazing that our time here is ending, in a week we will be back in the states!

The outreach concerts is going good and it is a huge blessing to have the Penn team with us on this outreach. They have such a heart for the kids here and really have been so good about reaching out and building relationships. It is so great being back in Tambov and being able to see the kids we have been able to build relationships with over the last year. I will be able to write a more complete email about the outreach later, but I just wanted to send a quick note letting all of you know how things are going. If you think of it please pray for strength for the last concert. Brit seemed to have come down with a bad cold that has been going through the team, it really hit her hard. Also I woke this morning this morning with an extremely soar throat, which is a singers worst nightmare, and I have been having stomach issues for the past week. Its just been a long almost two months and I think our bodies are not fighting things off too well. If you could just pray for strength and energy to be all we can be for Him and just be of vessel of His perfect love to the lost and needy. Thanks for all your prayers, we love you all so much!
love,
Shannon

In Tambov we also had four outreach concerts. They really liked our music which made it easy for us to talk with them. At the concerts we handed out our cds, posters and Gospel of John booklets. Afterward they showed us around the city. They were very exited to talk with us and ask us questions. Many of them had questions after reading the Gospel of John.

A Testimony from a Young Man Named Dima

"This is the way I came to Christ. I first came to the concerts that Christian American band Sorrow Underfoot was doing in Tambov in August. There was also some Russian Christian bands playing with them, including Rh from Calvary Chapel Tambov. Maxim from Rh talked to me about Christ. I was curious and Maxim told me about his life and how he found Christ. He invited me to Calvary Chapel. There I started to learn more about Jesus. I prayed to Jesus that I would get along better with my family, which included my mother, grandfather, and brother. Jesus answered my prayer and things improved. I prayed that I might learn to play the drums at church and Jesus helped me. I was a disc jockey working at a disco. There I saw a lot of drunkenness, smoking, and even strip teasing going on there every evening. It never bothered me much before, but after I found Christ, it seemed dirty and disgusting to me. I wanted to find another job. I prayed about it and before I could even start looking, an old friend called me up and asked if I would like to work as a clown for a company that did birthday parties. I took it and I like it much better! I thank Jesus for finding me this job. Jesus has done other little miracles in my life as well. I have changed. I feel happier and more peaceful about my life. My family has noticed the change and say that it is an improvement. I enjoy talking to God in prayer and singing praise songs to Him at home. Maxim is teaching me to play some of my favorite worship songs on the guitar. I hope to play in the worship band one day."
